Document Management with Dynamics CRM

As with other capabilities of Dynamics CRM, maximizing the benefits of document management requires the understanding the pros and cons of each of these options.  To better understand how documents are stored using the “out-of-the-box” document management features in Dynamics CRM 2016, it helps if you understand how data is stored in CRM. Dynamics CRM stores data in a structured, relational format.  This structure is optimized for traditional create, update and delete operations as well as querying that data.  This structure works really well for applications like Dynamics CRM, but it does not work very well for storing a lot of large documents. Documents in CRM are stored as attachments to Note records.  This is important to understand.  While document management is something every implementation of Dynamics CRM should consider, this understanding of how documents are stored is critical to deciding what option will work for your company.
